Almost 70% of Russian citizens see themselves as Orthodox Christians
According to information from the ROMIR Independent Research centre, over two thirds of Russian citizens see themselves as Orthodox. This data was gathered in a poll taken in order to find out the attitude of Russian citizens to religion. 69,3% of respondents described themselves as Orthodox Christians, 2,5% as Muslims, 0,4% as Buddhists. 2,9% of respondents belonged to other Christian denominations. 1,2% of respondents confessed other faiths. 22,3% declared themselves to be atheists. 1,4% found it difficult to describe their religious identity. The all-Russian poll was carried out from November 8-13 by selection. 2 thousand Russian citizens aged 18 and over participated.
